The
Immaculate
Reception

AKA Temple of Vestus
Geekster had the idea of a Virgin Round Up Parade see his Tribe: http://virginparade.tribe.net/
I have riffed on that here, seeing it more as an on-going arts and crafts fair.

We will each of us come to the BORG2 playa, like a virgin touched for the very first time. This year we are all virgins again. The BORG2 is a new child, clean and pure, and none of us know what it will grow to become. The Immaculate Reception is a place for us to meet our new selves and our new city. It should resemble a children’s fair, with activities laid out, art projects to work on, and happy workers to share their skills. Burnable art will be built, on small personal scales, and on large collaborative scales.

All members of the AC, among others, should try to devise discovery kits: small sets of materials to inspire our visitors to build something flammable. Popsicle sticks and Elmer’s glue mini-men, tissue paper flowers, birdhouses, kitchen pyrotechnics and on and on.

Central will be a large replica of Charles and Ray Eames House of Cards with brightly decorated sheets of interlocking plywood that can be joined together via slots to build towers, rooms and walls. Everyone will be welcomed to place and decorate a panel, and a large structure, whose height and safety will be controlled by the access ladders we provide, will grow organically, collaboratively, over the week.

Into this structure we will have our visitors place the works of art they construct, and which we will burn at a giant Deflowering party, held Friday, where we will all lose our cherries once again.
